While exploring different documentation systems for BlogeaAi, I came across GitBook. GitBook is an immensely intuitive platform that allows you to quickly set up and launch your documentation sites. From simple user guides to technical documentation, anyone can design and build using GitBook, even with no prior experience. You can learn and see more here.
It is a very versatile platform that allows you to integrate with a variety of tools and systems, such as Jira, Slack, and Discord. Here are a few of the key features:
Powerful Editor: The editor is extremely user-friendly, yet it offers a wide range of features. You can use Markdown, integrate rich media, and extend functionality with plugins. By working on the actual site in real-time, you get an immediate preview of how it will appear to others.
Version Control: This allows you to track changes made to the docs over time. Users can easily compare different versions of their content, pinpoint specific modifications, and selectively merge changes into the final draft without losing any previous work.
Templates and Customization: It provides a collection of ready-to-use themes and templates for quick and easy startup. Users have the ability to customize there space so that it matches their brand aesthetics or personal preferences.
As you can see GitBook is an incredibly versatile platform, serving various purposes such as software documentation, instructional guides, project wikis, and internal knowledge bases.
We opted for GitBook to create docs.blogeaai.com for a few reasons.
Attractive Design and Exceptional Readability: This platform presents information clearly and directly, saving users from the hassle of searching through PDFs and obscure guides. The reading experience is delightful, resembling a storybook, and encourages users to navigate from page to page to explore.
Simplicity: It is incredibly, and I mean incredibly simple to use. We were able of getting our docs site active in just two days (<6 hrs of actual work ). The editor is super user-friendly and the templates allow you to get started quick. Using the editor, you create blocks and modify them into your desired elements like headings, lists, or images. Everything just works and it works well!
Extra perk: GitBook offers a highly affordable pricing structure that caters to the needs of both individuals and businesses. They even provide a free option for independent developers seeking to expand their personal projects.
For technology applications, it is crucial to establish a user-friendly documentation platform that offers not only clear instructions, but also serves as a central repository for app specific information. As an end user of numerous apps and APIs, clear documentation is greatly appreciated, as it saves time and hassle!
These are a couple benefits of using docs:
A well-organized document site helps users find answers easily, reducing the need to contact customer support. This saves time and resources while allowing the support team to focus on more complex issues.
Providing an overview, list of features, goals, guides, and examples effectively presents your product and supports your users. This improves user satisfaction, reduces support inquiries, and ultimately boosts product uptake!
You can see our docs at: https://docs.blogeaai.com/. For BlogeaAi we have included:
Overview (Welcome Page) - Includes a brief overview, quicks links, and how to get started.
Our Goals - Explanation of the main goals and concepts for BlogeaAi.
Our Features - A summary of the main features.
Guides - A variety of guides explaining how to use BlogeaAi and a list of shortcuts.
Examples - A simple example showing BlogeaAi in action.
Again, this was all created in a matter of hours using GitBook with no prior experience.
I honestly really enjoyed using Gitbook and had way more fun then I should of. Creating documentation is every developers nightmare, but it is a necessary evil (haha). I appreciated how easy it was to sign up, build and publish using Gitbook.
It allows anyone to create professional, curated documents or knowledge bases. Its clean and straightforward layout not only enhances the reading experience but looks great too!
Hopefully you are now equipped with a stronger understanding of documentation systems, as well as an appreciation for the efficiency that GitBook brings to the table!
